Paulin St. Village Apartments

Originally a bakery and biscuit factory built in the early 1900s, this Romanesque Revival-style building has been refurbished with state of the art amenities while preserving the original aesthetics.  This is exemplified in the installation of VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) technology that moves heat from spaces requiring cooling into spaces requiring heating for optimum energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Following our first VRF install in 2016 at 272 Main, Southern Comfort Mechanical Inc. (SCMI) is proud to continue with the installation of this extremely efficient technology in the Paulin Street project which incorporates the city’s strategy to develop an urban neighbourhood based on historic authenticity for a diverse and multicultural community with locally-oriented commercial presence.

The silo that was used to store flour for the biscuit factory was ingeniously repurposed by SCMI into a sealed gantry to house the VRF condensers and HRV systems, which eliminated noise and vibrations from the rest of the building.
