Southern Comfort Mechanical Inc. is currently seeking a Residential Site Foreman to join our team! SCMI provides many long-term employment opportunities with very low turnover. The successful applicant acts as a critical liaison between installers, supervisors, and builders to ensure jobs are ready, safe, and executed according to plans and standards. This role involves thorough site inspections, communication with multiple stakeholders, quality assurance, and coaching team members as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect homes before rough-in for mechanical layout readiness.
- Confirm feasibility of plans and mark boot hole, exhaust, and return air locations on site and on prints.
- Identify and document inconsistencies, communicate to the SCMI supervisor and schedule installers for follow up.
- Confirm rough-in readiness prior to fill install.
- Coordinate with site builder supervisors and relay any concerns or schedule updates.
- Collaborate with SCMI supervisor regarding daily and weekly workload.
- Maintain respectful and professional communication with all site personnel, including installers and builder representatives.
- Perform post-install inspections to ensure all HVAC work meets company and builder standards.
- Confirm correct hood fan installation, furnace leveling, and clearances.
- Ensure installer safety by checking for clean and accessible job sites, especially in winter conditions.
- Verify hazard assessments are completed daily by installers.
- Monitor for appropriate ramps and access points.
- Provide constructive coaching and documentation for team members requiring guidance and improvement.
- Recognize performance concerns early and escalate to SCMI supervisor when needed.
- Anticipate workload fluctuations and communicate staffing needs accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and high organizational skills.
- 2-3 years of experience in residential HVAC or construction supervisor preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and ductwork installation.
- Previous experience working directly with builders or construction supervisors preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read and interpret builder plans and mechanical drawings accurately.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to foresee potential installation challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.
- Experience managing multiple job site simultaneously.
- Hands-on, proactive work ethic.
