Southern Comfort Mechanical is growing and we are looking for a full time, permanent journeyperson Gas Fitter to join our team. Our head office is located at 671 Discovery Drive in Grande Pointe, MB, but majority of our jobsites are within Winnipeg.
SCMI specializes in commercial and residential plumbing, heating, sheet metal, and gas, and provides many long-term employment opportunities with low turnover. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is passionate about their career. The successful applicant will be exposed to a wide variety of work and many leading edge projects. A Gasfitter with commercial experience is an asset, but not necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintenance of equipment
- Install furnaces and ducting as required
- Install fireplaces and framework as required
- Gas repairs
- Gas piping furnaces, stoves, fireplaces and BBQ's
- Scheduled maintenance
- Venting of furnaces
- Ability to size pipe
- Work up to standard with the provincial code requirements
- Follow WCB/COR safety standards
Skills/Experience:
- Must have a valid provincial driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand instructions & direction
- Must have a Red Seal in B or A gasfitting
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good positive attitude
- Punctuality
- Experience in B-vent for unit heaters would be an asset
- Good communication skills with homeowners, site supervisors, and fellow team members
