Southern Comfort Receives Excellence and Leadership Award
Without measurement and verification, even the most advanced geothermal systems are susceptible to running outside their design parameters. Southern Comfort Mechanical Incorporated (SCMI) recognized a need in Manitoba to provide concrete data for government and geothermal industries. In partnering with the Centre for Applied Research in Sustainable Infrastructure (CARSI), SCMI was able to submit a complex geothermal system installed at The Cornerstone Housing Corporation to rigorous and continual testing to determine where improvements could be made. Funding assistance was provided for by the Federal Applied Research and Development Grant through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The positive results obtained acted as a catalyst for growth and government support in Manitoba. All new multi-unit residential Manitoba Housing projects now require a geothermal feasibility study.
