Project Details:

Southern Comfort Mechanical won the bid to install a geothermal system in this Farm Equipment Dealership. The building is a 40,000 sq/ft building, heated predominantly with geothermal radiant floor heat. The 20,000 sq/ft shop area, and 10,000 sq/ft parts area are heated with radiant flooring and the 10,000 sq/ft office area is heated and cooled with geothermal water to air systems.

Design Challenge:

14,700 CFM is required to properly ventilation this building. To install additional geothermal heating capacity to heat this air would have been prohibitively expensive. A direct fired gas air makeup system was designed in order to reduce the capital cost of the system. Interesting Note: The system requirements on this project required that two water wells be drilled to supply the heat pumps, and two wells drilled to accept the return water.
